Am I in the car again?

We had a lovely evening last night. We stayed at Country Inn and Suites and had a suite. We wish we would have a suite all week. It had one room with two queen beds and another room with a couch, another TV, etc. We had the pool to ourselves which was fabulous after sitting in the car for so long. KN can beat me in laps now. Rats. (But it was very close) There was a shower by the pool that KJ liked to go in and then jump in the pool. Whatever. It was right next to an airport so the planes took off over the hotel. Thankfully, it didn't keep us awake at night. Somehow KJ got us all hooked in watching the home run derby on TV.

The best news was that the room was free from so many business trips that RP has had to take.

Next stop, the beach.

Made it!

We just finished dinner at the Texas Steakhouse (and KJ would like you to know that he has a mint.) We just have to drive across the street to the hotel. Yay. Thank you for all of the fabulous comments - they have been fun to read. Oh, Kristin has a mint too.

North Carolina, Here we are!

Wahoo - we are in North Carolina! Still have hours to drive, but no more new states today.

IPablo is starting... again. It's KJ's TV show he does that stars his stuffed monkey, Pablo (who talks in a baby voice.)

In case you are wondering

We are now in Virginia.

Everyone has had a nap (except RP who has driven the whole way. Yay.)

Just went through a mountain in a tunnel. Kids thought that was cool.

Back to my book.

Quote from KJ

"Are we going to go through any cities that have buildings?"

Some Songs to get in Your Head

Barges I would like sail with you. I would like to sail the ocean blue. (Just crossed the Ohio River and saw barges. Please sing along.)

Country Roads, Take Me Home to the place, I belong. West Virginia Mountain Mama Country Roads. (Just got into West Virginia).

One hour till lunch. Who will win? Chick Fila or Panera?

This is from KJ…

There’s a lot of mountains. We are on a big bridge. The mountains all have big trees on them. We are getting off the bridge and there is a good sledding hill with a lot of trees on it. We are on a bridge again. There’s a trail on the mountain. We are off the bridge. Big climbing wall. Goes very high. That’s all I have to say.

9:05 Update

Officially in the middle of nowhere.

Go Right Team!

Heading east in the morning is not much fun. Very sunny in my eyes.
Who knew that Meowy (KJ’s stuffed cat) was a lefty?
KN is having us play a game called Cow Counter. KJ and I are a team (right side of the car), KN and RP are a team (left side). We count the number of cows on our side of the road. If the other team sees a cemetery on your side of the road, your cows are buried and you have to start over. If you see a white horse, you get 50 points. Yes she googled car games before we left and printed them off. I don’t know where she gets it. Speaking of that, here’s the scavenger hunt I made for them for the road.
10 orange things
10 purple things
3 signs that welcome you to a new state
1 dog
17 cows (that’s what reminded her of her game)
A farmhouse
A North Carolina license plate
A palm tree
A pig
A yellow flower
5 waffle houses
The ocean
7 boats
A blue van that isn’t ours
An airplane
An exit sign
A bathroom
A large diet coke
Another bathroom
Chocolate skittles
Sand
A baseball field
A basketball hoop
A swimming pool
A tiger playing football

WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!! We just saw cows and THREE white horses! Go Right Team!

I have 14 hours of free time on my hands

We’re off! We woke up early today and we are ready to go! Our car is loaded down (and somehow we have to get Grandpa in here on the way back). We are rested and excited about our trip. The kids are reading and RP is driving. I, of course, am typing. KN is reading over my shoulder and making her own comments about what I am writing. Hi KN. KJ just started a new book that he was looking forward to reading (but wasn’t allowed to read until we started the trip.) For some reason, on the GPS, Chick Fila is listed as our first stop. I wonder who did that? KN wants to eat lunch at Panera (I tend to agree with her). Yes, we are already talking about lunch. KJ says Hi. Our car is totally tricked out. We have a power strip, antenna TV, a computer (which is online), a GPS, 6 mp3 players, a video player or two, 2 DS’s, DVD player, etc. We should have plenty to do. I think we also brought 34,982 books.

We just went over KJ’s favorite ramp. KJ’s quote was, “I wish there were monkeys on my favorite ramp.” Don’t ask. We are now heading east on 465 and the sun is rising. Time for my sunglasses, I believe.

RP just said, “Oh we forgot to clean the windshield.”
KJ, “What are all those dots?”
"Bugs."
“They are just climbing around up there?”
“Nope, they are dead.”
“Oh that’s disgusting. They are just flying around then, ‘Boom! A Car!’”

The car in front of us has their reverse lights on at 60 mph. Should we be concerned?

I've been in the car for 20 minutes and have already created a blog. Happy Reading.
